Get to Know Monique Marshall
My name is Monique Marshall, Owner, Founder, and Provider for Faith In Counseling LLC. I am a die hard Kentucky fan, although I was born and raised in Louisville, KY. I love dogs particularly pitbulls, mostly because they are the most misunderstood breed just like the population of clients I serve. I am a mother of four who has struggled with addiction myself but was able to overcome it by facing my adversities, and seeking professional help. I am happy to say today I am over a decade clean and sober, and I am ready to help you reach your milestone of long term sobriety.
I started my career by accident, not planned when I got clean I had no idea where I was going career wise. I was almost two years clean when I took a job as a resident monitor at a halfway house for inmates who were in a SAP program. I was currently in college for criminal justice, which was perfect considering I was working with inmates. I was asked by my supervisor after a few months of working there if I would like to work as an “addiction counselor in training” while waiting to obtain my bachelor’s degree so that I could obtain my License to become a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. Once I received my bachelor’s and certification, I went right back to grad school so that I could obtain a higher license for addiction counseling. It was hard work but with determination and consistency, I am now a License Alcohol and Drug counselor with 10 years of experience working with people who struggle with substance use.
I never in the past gave much consideration to having my own practice, but after working for employers and seeing a lot of them losing sight of the purpose and mission for addiction counselors and services, I decided to follow my heart. One day after some deep soul searching I decided to open “Faith In Counseling” which is named after my granddaughter Faith. My mission and purpose is to treat all clients with dignity and respect, encourage them, and educate them on how to have a better fulfilling life without drugs and alcohol having power over them.
